Lake Placid, N.Y., January 2, 2007 - Ellen Nesbitt, Assistant Director of the St. Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, was elected president of the Board of Directors of the Adirondack Regional Tourism Council, Inc. (ARTC) at the organization's annual meeting in December. Nesbitt, a resident of Norwood, holds a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts from Marist College, and has worked in the public relations, marketing, and tourism industry. She recently opened St. Lawrence Chocolates in Potsdam. Michele Powers, Director of the Champlain Shores Visitors & Convention Bureau, a division of the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce, was elected vice president. Neil Seymour, Director of Franklin County Tourism, and Kate Johnson, Director of Warren County Tourism, were re-elected to serve as secretary and treasurer, respectively. All officers of the 25 year-old destination marketing organization will serve for one year. ARTC is a non-profit consortium of eight counties that cooperatively promotes economic development through tourism. It maintains offices at the I-87 South Welcome Center in Beekmantown.
