ADIRONDACK REGION, NY - New York state is the second largest producer of maple syrup in the US - and here in the Adirondacks of Northern New York, this season's bounty is ready for breakfast! Learn how maple syrup is made this month; stop by one of the several farms and sugarbushes across the region for tours and tree tapping fun March 27-28th for New York State's Maple Weekend. Don't miss the American Maple Museum in Croghan for a fascinating look at the history of maple syrup production in the Adirondacks.

For five generations, the Yancey family has been operating this sugarbush and some of their maple trees are more than 250 years old. The family still used traditional methods - using horses to pull the sleighs or wagons to gather sap and transport it to the boiling shed.
