The Adirondack Park is one of the few places in the country known as a "dark puddle." High altitude and little light pollution make the Adirondacks a stargazer's dream.
Aside from some amateur astronomers who gather for "star parties," the Adirondack Public Observatory is in the works in Tupper Lake. The observatory, which organizers hope to open in the future, is planned to have a domed building with the large telescope, imaging equipment and a digital camera. The observatory will be open to the public. For more information on the observatory visit www.apobservatory.org
