Cycle Adirondacks Returns in August 2017 With New Adventures

Why? It's all about surprises, which just happen to be a whole lot easier to discover and experience while traveling the speed of bike.

Surprises at Every Turn

At 6 million acres in size, the Adirondacks region is full of hidden treasures and special spots: dramatic cliffs along pristine lakes; diverse ecosystems, from bogs reminiscent of far northern climates to free-flowing and meandering rivers surrounded by mixed hardwood forests; large intact wild areas rich with wildlife; spectacular scenery, including a landscape dotted with small historic towns and farms nestled among some of the east's most remote mountains.

Just think about experiencing all of that with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) as your tour guide. Chances are, you'll find more than a few of those special spots.

In 2015, WCS had the idea of connecting people with this incredible landscape. Cycle Adirondacks was born and offers a fully-supported road cycling tour in the largest managed wild areas in the lower 48 states.

The Ultimate Cycling Vacation

Now in its third year, the annual week-long ride has grown into an award-winning event that is recognized as one of the most well executed and enjoyable cycling tours in North America. Registration is now open for a limited number of cyclists to experience the August 19-25 tour, which will feature the stunning Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness.

What does "fully supported" mean?

Think of Cycle Adirondacks like a cruise ship for folks who love to ride bikes. That's right, it's the most amenity-rich, all-inclusive, fun and relaxing bicycle tour you'll ever experience. Or put simply: The Ultimate Cycling Vacation.

Ride with a Cause

But that's not the best part. Since Cycle Adirondacks is presented by WCS, our guests are provided a personal connection with the landscape. For example, a rest stop isn't just a place to fill your water bottle. It's an opportunity to learn about wildlife, their threats and the opportunities for conservation from scientists working locally to help protect the Adirondacks.

It's that kind of connection. And it's something nearly everyone who loves to ride a bike can do. Sure, it may be a six-day bicycle tour, but Cycle Adirondacks prides itself on providing more experience options than most any other tour in America. The 2017 format features three amazing overnight communities – Schroon Lake, Keene Valley and Saranac Lake - with two consecutive nights at each, meaning you can choose to take some time off the bike during the week, riding as few as three days or as many as six. Either way, you'll have an amazing week in the Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness and its communities. The adventure is up to you.

More than a Bike Ride

OK, about those amenities. Cycle Adirondacks features world-class locally sourced dining, NY craft beer and wine, nightly entertainment, massage therapy and yoga...just to name a few. Just listen to what our previous guests have said:

"If you've never done a multi-day bike tour before, start here. Cycle Adirondacks cares deeply about both your experience and the setting. You will be taken care of every mile."

"Put this one on your bucket list. It's the vacation of a lifetime. New friends, great conversations and fantastic rides."

"A truly genuine connection with not just the natural landscape, but with the amazing small towns and villages that complement and connect this special part of the world."

"Cycle Adirondacks offered me an up-close and carefully curated view of a beautiful region only a few hours' drive from NYC – with the added bonus of committed and passionate environmentalists as our friendly and enthusiastic guides."

Ride with Us!

Bottom line: If you want a truly immersive Adirondacks experience, come spend a week touring the region with WCS. Registration is open, and you can find comprehensive information, including photos, videos, route descriptions and more, at www.cycleadirondacks.com.

As one of our 2016 guests said: "It's a once-in-a-lifetime event you can do every year."
