Saranac Lake
Saranac Lake is a haven for artistic minds and a passionate arts community. Every artistic discipline is represented and artists often merge Adirondack history and culture into contemporary expression. Thursday ArtWalks are a favorite summer event. Held on the third Thursday of June, July, August and September, visitors can stroll the village's charming Main Street. Enjoy street musicians, painters, gallery open houses and more. Saranac Lake hosted its first Adirondack Arts Heritage Festival in June and July of 2011. For nine days, 35 events offered a chance to explore all of the Adirondack Arts - from fly fishing, to special performances at the Pendragon Theatre and Blueseed Studios, to historic and culinary experiences. It's one of the many Adirondack events not-to-be-missed.
Blue Mountain Lake
The Adirondack Museum captures the rich cultural past of the Adirondacks for all to enjoy. Visit the museum during its summer season and participate in paddle making workshops, basket weaving and see special guest performances by the Glimmerglass Opera out of Cooperstown, NY.
The Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council is located nearby, offering a full repertoire of classes, programs, arts festivals and workshops. Lake Placid
In Lake Placid, Songs at Mirror Lake Music Series in Mid's Park is a favorite Tuesday night activity during the summer nights. Bands and performers of every musical genre take the stage every year to provide free weekly concerts. The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is the heart of this village's artistic community, offering dance and culinary classes, gallery exhibits, movies and theatrical performance space.
Westport
For the performing arts - visitors have their pick of some of the finest talent in the Adirondack Park. The Depot Theatre in Westport is a repurposed train station with great acoustics. From the history of jazz, to the Cabbage Patch - enjoy a summer theatre season on the shores of Lake Champlain.
Lake George
Experience one of the Lake George Region's most popular traditions during the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council's Annual Arts Festival in Glens Falls. For 40 years, this two-day festival has delighted visitors with juried arts and craft shows, family activities, food and entertainment. The nearby Hyde Collection Art Museum, Historic House & Gardens offers an elegant, holistic arts experience.
Plattsburgh
The majestic natural landscape of the Adirondack Park has inspired artistic creation for centuries. Famed American artist Rockwell Kent depicted his Adirondack farmstead, Asgaard, in many of his landscapes. His influence and love of pastoral settings resonates in Asgaard Farm's contemporary forms of expression. The farm's current owners operate an award winning goat dairy farm. Kent's creative passions also inspire visiting artists through internships and special events.
At the NCCCA Arts Center, located near the Adirondack Coast's scenic shores, specializes in the visual arts, music performances and theater. View exhibitions, take theater workshops or art classes and enjoy a night at the historic Strand Theater. St. Lawrence Seaway
Travel to the shores of the mighty St. Lawrence River and tour incredible exhibits and galleries. The Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg is home to the largest permanent display of Remington bronzes, paintings and illustrations in the world. In Canton, the Traditional Arts in Upstate New York gallery specializes in folk art. Exhibits rotate to showcase packbasket making, storytelling and traditional musical instruments.
