Whether you wake up at dawn to make the first tracks or watch the sun set from the summit before taking the last run of the day - discover some of the East Coast's best alpine terrain in the Adirondack Mountains of New York.

The Adirondack Region's alpine ski areas offer a wide range of downhill skiing and snowboarding opportunities - from family friendly to expert-only. Skin up and ski down the backcountry slides or huck yourself off of the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies at Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, NY. Known as the Olympic Mountain - having hosted the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games' alpine events - Whiteface offers exciting terrain and slope-side amenities.

Smaller, family oriented Adirondack ski areas like Snow Ridge in Turin offer some of the best natural snow in the region, benefiting from Ontario's lake-effect snow. At Big Tupper Ski Center in Tupper Lake, enjoy no-frills skiing, wide trails and amazing summit views for just $25 a day.

Adirondack Skiing & Snowboarding

Gore Mountain in North Creek is famous for offering family friendly terrain, challenging drops and spectacular summit views. With more skiable acres than any other mountain in New York, expect to see newly expanded trails and glades this season. West Mountain provides great beginner-to-intermediate ski center with short lift lines and varied terrain; and Titus Mountain near the Quebec border boasts easy to difficult trails perfect for families or groups of friends who ski and ride at different skill levels.

The Adirondack Mountains are made up of a 160-mile-wide dome of peaks - creating a unique alpine playground. Learn how to backcountry ski, telemark, snowboard or perfect your alpine style and sign up for a lesson at one of the many Adirondack ski resorts.

Whether you are searching for an Adirondack vacation filled with challenging drops, long cruisers, glades and rails, or just starting out on gentle, perfectly groomed beginner terrain, come to where having serious winter fun is a tradition.
