4th Annual WW100

Sunday’s action features the 4th Annual Wilmington/Whiteface 100k Race, which takes place with a shotgun start at 7:00 a.m. The 100k race is a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race.  For mountain bikers who like high elevation racing on the most rugged of terrain, the Leadville Trail 100 is the holy grail. As one of the most well-known mountain bike races, getting into the Leadville Trail 100 has always been difficult. One way to get in is by racing in one of the six 2012 LT100 Qualifiers across the country, each offering 100 total qualifying starting positions. From start to finish, the WW100's course is as varied as the cyclists competing from the eastern United States and Canada. The race both begins and ends at Whiteface Mountain, but in between, the 69-mile long race will take competitors up and down and twisting through jeep and gravel roads, backcountry trails and climbs that measure more than 750 meters each. All of this ends with a pair of 350-foot climbs at Whiteface ahead of the finish line. Cyclists who may not be ready for the full WW100 can also compete in the newly-added 50K event, and a newly-established TEAM class which will consist of two-member teams each riding the 50K course.

Registration is now available. For more information about the weekend’s events, and to register, contact the Whiteface Region Business & Tourism Center, or click the "Visit Web Site" link below
