Welcome to our restored country gentleman's home nestled in the quiet hamlet of Chestertown in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of New York State.
The Chester Inn , an elegant, completely restored Bed & Breakfast, was built in the 1830's, before the Civil War, as a private residence by Charles Fowler a prosperous merchant and banker from Albany. The historic Fowler family cemetery with its picturesque stone walls, gate and monument still stand on the property. Innkeepers Bruce and Suzanne Robbins purchased and lovingly restored the house in 1987.
Our guest rooms, furnished with antiques, are welcoming and comfortable and wi-fi is available. Adjacent is our Main Street Ice Cream Parlor where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. The property is on 13 acres of gardens, meadows, forest with multiple historic barn structures.
Located in the Southern Adirondacks and ideal for enjoying every season of the year. We are close to boating, golf, hiking and walking trails including to very popular Chester Challenge, fishing, horseback riding, swimming and picnicking, whitewater rafting; in the winter season, snowmobiling is popular and there is a well-groomed trail system right out the back door of the Inn. Loon Lake, Brant Lake, Schroon Lake and Friends Lake - all a short ride.
As one of the oldest structures in the Adirondack Park still in near original condition, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a proud recipient of an Adirondack Architectural Heritage Award.
