The Adirondack Region of Northern New York

Wild and civilized...and close-by

The Adirondacks in New York State, represent the largest natural wilderness region in the eastern United States. Encompassing an area of over six million acres, this region (larger than the state of Vermont) has over 3,000 lakes and ponds, 2,000 miles of hiking trails, snowmobiling, trophy fishing, skiing and historic attractions. It provides visitors endless opportunities to play, relax, and plot an adventure. Scattered throughout this vast wilderness are charming communities with Adirondack lodging ranging from resorts and spas, elegant inns and B&Bs, to rustic cabins and camping sites.

The Adirondack Mountains with their majestic High Peaks are a haven for every kind of outdoor recreation. Hike to a summit for spectacular panoramic views, walk to isolated waterfalls and through peaceful forest glades or refresh in a cool mountain lake.
If soft adventure is more your style, visit world-class museums and colonial forts, sample local specialties at a farmers' market, and relax to outdoor music under the stars. Adirondack attractions offer fun-filled days at theme parks, indoor and outdoor museums, art galleries, nature walks, antiquing, and of course, shopping. Everyone needs an authentic Adirondack chair, a classic piece of rustic furniture, and wonderful pine scented sachets!

All year long, Adirondack events and festivals serve up unique entertainment for the entire family: from fairs, concerts, theatre, historic war re-enactments, demonstrations and winter carnivals, to horse shows, Americade, Ironman, and World Cup competition.

It's time for you to discover the adventure that awaits you in the Adirondacks of New York State, only a short drive from many east coast cities. So, "Come to Life"...we're what a vacation is all about!
