Adirondack Fish Hatchery

April 1-October 31, 9:00AM – 3:30PM, daily, including weekends.

State fish hatchery. Raises landlocked Atlantic salmon. Located about 12 miles from the Village of Saranac Lake in Franklin County. This facility specializes in rearing landlocked Atlantic salmon for statewide distribution. Annual production averages 30,000 pounds of salmon, with most of the salmon stocked as yearling smolts (six inches long),  as small fingerlings, or as fry in the spring. The visitor center includes a pool with salmon, a monitor showing brood fish in a pond, and numerous exhibits about fish propagation.
