Bicycling in Lewis County

Tour de Lewis

Lewis County, in the Tug Hill Region, offers a variety of roads and trails for cycling enthusiasts.

Mountain bikers can choose from shorter routes like the one-mile Green Pond Trail or ramp up the distance and elevation gain at Whetstone Gulf. Pinkney Bike Trails near Copenhagen feature a green forest setting that is good for all skill levels. Single track trails are narrow and offer obstacles to navigate.

Road cyclists, add the metric century Tour de Lewis to your spring riding list. This is a non-competitive Metric Century Ride through Lewis County’s scenic Adirondack Park, Black River Valley, and Tug Hill. Participation is open to recreational and competitive amateur cyclists alike. Looking for a shorter road route, try the 29.4 mi. Tug Hill Cycle from Osceola to West Leyden (and back again.)

Cycling Guide is available from Chamber of Commerce. Restaurants, lodging, and campsites, are available along the way.
