Lake Placid Trail Challenge

Your Epic Trail Running Adventure Awaits August 10, 2024. Mark your calendars for this trail running experience like no other. The Lake Placid Trail Challenge is back for its second edition, and it’s set to redefine your perception of trail racing. Hosted in collaboration with Spartan Trail and ORDA, this event is your opportunity to conquer the scenic beauty and rich history of Olympic cross country trails in Lake Placid. The course is a unique trail run, taking you through the historic Mt Van Hoevenberg site, used for the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games. Runners have the opportunity to choose from three distinct distances 10k, Half Marathon, and 50k. You’ll begin and end the race in the stadium as the crowd cheers you on. Taking the path less traveled, cresting the hill that set the backdrop for the biathlon competition in the 1980 Olympics. Through conifer stands and birch forests, on winding paths with views of Cascade Mountain, you’ll reach the World Cup trails with stunning vistas of Whiteface and Pitchoff Mountain before climbing to the top of the 1932 Olympic Bobsled track. Once there, you will experience the twist and turns as you run IN the track to the top of our current World Championship sliding track, where current World Cup athletes vie for medals in bobsled, skeleton, and luge. From this historic summit, the breathtaking vistas stretch for miles, creating a surreal backdrop for your run back down the mountain.
